Sheldon M. Gallner

As the founder of the law firm Gallner & Pattermann P.C., Sheldon Gallner's legal career, spanned 40 years, and focused on the representation of people injured on the job.

Shelley, a Council Bluffs native, graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. He graduated with high honors from American University in Washington, D.C., and, in 1974, from the University of Iowa School of Law. Before law school, Gallner was a sports agent for professional athletes.

At the U of I he was a member of the Iowa Law Review and wrote a book, "Pro Sports: The Contract Game," published by Scribner & Sons. The book was the text for a 1980s class he taught at Creighton University School of Law.

Gallner was a past president of the Iowa Association of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, the Iowa Trial Lawyers’ board of governors and the Council Bluffs Boys & Girls Clubs.

He served on the boards of the Omaha Jewish Federation, the Jewish Community Center in Omaha and the Oak Hill/Bikhor Cholim Cemetery in Council Bluffs, and sponsored multiple youth basketball organizations. He was a member of the Iowa Bar Foundation, was a fellow in and a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and belonged to the Nebraska State Bar Association and the Pottawattamie Bar Association.
