Understanding Workers' Compensation Benefits

Workers' compensation is an agreement between employers and their employees. Employers agree to pay for the medical care of employees who suffer on-the-job injuries or occupational illnesses. Employers will also pay a portion of the injured employees' weekly wages until they are able to return to work. In exchange for this compensation, employees agree not to sue their employers for negligence.

What Are the Benefits?

Each state's workers' compensation program is somewhat different, but, with a few exceptions and many restrictions, injured workers are entitled to receive payment of their medical expenses and two-thirds of their average weekly wages.

Injured workers are not compensated for pain and suffering through the workers' compensation system. That is why the attorneys of the Law Offices of Gallner & Pattermann, P.C., will review your case to determine if you may be eligible to file a third-party, personal injury claim in addition to your workers' compensation claim.

Standing Up for Injured Workers

Employers and their workers' compensation insurance companies try to reduce their costs by denying injured workers the benefits they are entitled to by law. Our workers' compensation lawyer stands up for the rights of injured workers and helps them receive the benefits they deserve.

We can advise you at any stage of the process, from reporting the injury to your employer to obtaining wage and medical benefits to negotiating a final settlement of your workers' compensation claim.
