It does not seem that there is anyone who can remain unaffected by cancer, and the people of Gallner and Pattermann, P.C. are no different. As their bookkeeper, Beth Roof, endures terminal lung cancer and enters hospice care, the firm has found a way to honor their beloved colleague.
As reported on PRWeb.com, the Iowa law office decided to sponsor the Spirit of Courage Celebrity Weekend for the Jennie Edmundson Foundation in honor of Ms. Roof. The foundation shares the stories of amazing cancer survivors each year at the event and seeks to fulfill its mission to care for the mind and body of cancer patients and improve their quality of life. The Jennie Edmundson Foundation helps Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital care for these patients.
The Spirit of Courage Celebrity Weekend treated guests to a dinner and featured sports and television celebrities from the local and national scene. Those in attendance could also participate in a Texas Hold'Em poker tournament, an auction and a golf tournament.
One of the firm's founding partners, Laura Patterman, was quoted saying, "Cancer has taken its toll not only in our firm, but in so many people's lives. Beth is truly a special individual who has bravely battled cancer five times. She exemplifies courage and persistence." Patterman went on to explain that Beth had a significant impact on the lives of the injured clients the firm represents. Her ability to relate to the pain that the clients were experiencing made her a unique asset to the company. "The clients all love Beth," Pattermann concluded.
